20 Ideas to Embrace Random Acts of Kindness Day

What small thing can you do today to spread some kindness? Princess Diana once said: ‘Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.’ We’ve put together a list of ideas for you to try, but we’d also love to hear your thoughts and suggestions – you can join in the conversation on Instagram here.
1. Write a positive review for a small independent business. We can say first hand that we read and appreciate every single comment and review you leave. Link
2. Send an email to a former work colleague or teacher to let them know how much you appreciate them.
3. Write a positive note or quote and leave it somewhere public like a bus stop or café for others to read.
4. Buy coffee for the next person in the queue.
5. Do someone else’s chore without being asked – like making dinner or taking out the rubbish.
6. Buy an unexpected thank you gift for a friend or loved one. You can discover our range of sustainable gifts here.
7. Sign up to give blood.
8. Donate self-care items to a local refuge or homeless shelter. We work with the Hygiene Bank to provide essential toiletries and hygiene products for those in need – you can find out more here.
9. Pay a compliment to a stranger.
10. Send a text to a friend telling them why you appreciate them.
11. Research what can and can’t be recycled locally so you can make sure you are recycling correctly.
