7 Ways to Feel Less Stressed That Really Work
Do you feel that being stressed is part of your everyday life? So many of us just accept being stressed as normal but small changes can make a big difference to your wellbeing and day-to-day happiness. Here, we share seven simple ways to help you feel better and bring more joy into your life.
Morning Light
On waking, open the curtains, perhaps eat breakfast in the garden, take a five-minute walk or walk for part of your commute. Natural daylight on the back of the eye’s retina has been shown to help set your circadian rhythm to put you on the right track for the rest of the day and enable a deeper night’s sleep.
Create More Time
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, writing a schedule can feel like just another job to add to the to-do list but a simple schedule can actually help to create more free time or time for doing what you love. Before bedtime, think ahead to any jobs or appointments you have to do at a specific time next day. Once those are written down, add in the other tasksyou’d like to get done. Don’t forget to plan in some movement or relaxation and only fit in what you think is possible so you can set yourself up for success.
Natural Multitask
Spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress levels and regulate the nervous system. Rather than adding to your to-do list, think of something you could do while spending time in nature such as catching up with a friend for a walk (rather than over a drink or coffee), reading a book, catching up on emails, drinking your morning cup of tea or doing yoga or stretching.
Sounds of Nature
If you can’t get outside, search YouTube or Spotify for nature sounds such as crashing waves or birdsong to bring some calm and tranquillity to your day.
Follow Your Passion
Find something you love to do rather than something you feel you have to do. Finding what psychologists describe as a state of flow has been shown to improve your rational brain, making it more difficult for your emotional brain to take over. It could be music, sport, painting or even knitting.
Live with Intention
So many of us feel as if we are in a never-ending Groundhog Day – going through each day without much thought. Living more intentionally can have great benefits – so slow down and note the world around you. Cook for pleasure and nourishment, enjoy spending time with a pet, take a bath and really notice the fragrance of the Bath & Shower Gel and the silky bubbles it creates. You can discover our range of Fine Fragrance Bath & Shower Gels here.
Community and Kindness
Try to include a small act of kindness in each day – thanking a friend or family member for something they’ve done, chatting to someone in a shop or even doing some voluntary work. Here at Noble Isle, giving back has been central to our brand values – you can read more about our charity work here.
