The Story of Whisky & Water
Now a ruin, Balvenie Castle in Speyside, Scotland, dates back to the 13th century. The land around it has abundant water springs, fertile soil and a cool, bright climate, creating the perfect growing conditions for barley. Staying true to tradition, the Balvenie distillery crafts the world’s finest Scotch using time-honoured techniques that can’t be rushed.
Good Things Come to Those Who Wait
Scotch whisky is made from just two ingredients – water and barley – which means that the quality of eachis critical. The makers of the Balvenie draw spring water from the Conval Hills that overlook the distillery and smoke the estate-grown, traditionally harvested malted barley on site.
Patience is another key ingredient – a single malt whisky can never be rushed. After three years in oakbarrels it earns the right to call itself Scotch whisky but it requires more than a decade in darkness to impress a true connoisseur. Some of the world’s finest whiskies were blended and barrelled by previous generations, dating back as far as 70 years.
Scotland’s Finest
Barley is high in linoleum acid – used traditionally to calm dry skin. We created a unique Malted Barley extract for our Whisky & Water collection using natural malted barley from the fields of the Balvenie estate.
Heritage in a Bottle
Our best-selling fragrance is often described as ‘unique’ and ‘addictive’. Its rich, smooth scent was inspired by the finest oak-aged single malt, with notes of warm Vanilla and Cedarwood. Reminiscent of a cosy room at dusk, warmed by a roaring fire, Whisky & Water is a complex fragrance that is modern, dramatic and unmistakable.
