Mother’s Day (or more correctly Mothering Sunday) has a long tradition in the British Isles, dating back to the 16th century when daughters working as domestic servants were given time off to worship at their ‘Mother church’. The day has since become synonymous with family reunions. In the US, the day is a celebration of older women who have made a contribution to us.
