The Story Of Perry Pear

What comes to mind first when you think of British fruit? Perhaps apples? For our best-selling Haircare collection it was another orchard fruit that took centre stage – the Great British Pear. And not just any Pear – we chose Perry Pears, sourced from a 200-year-old Yellow Huffcap Perry Pear Tree in Gloucestershire. Perry Pears contain a wealth of Vitamins, Minerals and Antioxidants including Vitamin C and Copper to boost the hair’s natural defences.

A Fruitful History

Gloucestershire is home to some of the British Isles’ oldest orchards. Long before the county was even given its name,May Hill, 15 miles north-west of Gloucester, is said to have been the stomping ground of giants. According to folklore, one autumn a giant thundered home with a handful of Perry Pears. After taking a bite of the fruit and finding it bitter, he spat it out, scattering pips across the countryside and sowing the seeds for the county’s orchards.

It is believed that the Perry Pear tree will only prosper in sight of May Hill. Today Gloucestershire is considered the world capital of Pears and boasts over a hundred cultivars including many rare varieties with wonderful historic names such as Mumblehead, Lumberskull and Merrylegs.

Bitter Perry Pears are used to make the delicately sparkling, traditional British tipple of Perry, a celebratory drink that predates champagne and sparkling wine.

Pears with Provenance

We source our Pears from Day’s Cottage, a family business and part of the Gloucestershire Orchard Trust. The Trust is a charity dedicated to the conservation and celebration of traditional Gloucestershire orchards. Helen and Dave at Day’s Cottage, along with the Trust, have worked tirelessly to bring many varieties of Apples and Pears back from the brink of extinction.

Nature Provides

Our products are enjoyed in luxury hotels across the world and it was important that our Shampoo and Conditioner deliver great results. We wanted to create a Shampoo that was gentle enough to use every day and also worked for colour-treated hair. Our Perry Pear Shampoo leaves hair feeling healthy and shiny. The Yellow Huffcap Perry Pear extract is gently clarifying and rich in Minerals and Antioxidants including Vitamin C. Our Perry Pear Conditioner also contains Glycerin to soften and moisturise the hair and Wheat Proteins to help protect the hair and scalp.

Trustpilot Review

Great service and fabulous products packaged beautifully. I was lucky enough to try Noble Isle Perry Pear Shampoo and Conditioner whilst on holiday. Wow, what a difference purchasing these for myself has made. I used to have to wash my hair daily, not anymore, I only need to wash it two to three times a week at most, the scent lasts well and the condition of my hair has improved too. It’s great to be able to support a British company too.
